Only for the destructive power it brings, I bet. Your primary character must be a necromancer.

I would LOVE Baby Bladed Aatxe for my birthday!!

Delivery of CE is still in transit... c'mon UPS, knock on my door!

I am in no way jealous or mad that the CE people get these pets (afterall I have 2 ruriks and 1 bone dragon) i just dont like the reason that ANET gave for the release of the new pet to CE owners...to thank them for the support....what about the rest of us...as I noted.

What about us? We could buy the CE too. It's our choice.

This is a little something extra for the CE people having to wait, that's all.

Not really. I WANTED the CE, there was none there. Best Buy told me they had no idea when or if they would get them (Preordered). I heard about the delays, and decided I would just get the SE. If I had my choice I would have CE right now. Sure I could have waited and seen what happened in a week or two, but at the time I thought my access would run out (before they announced the extension). Didn't want that to happen, and wanted the game on the first day it came out, and now I hear about this. I hope this thread goes away soon - makes me mad everytime I see it.

Gaile - if you can make me a mini-pet Cliff Racer, I'll come down to the studio and make coffee and cookies for everyone.

well, like most of GW fans, I preorder both the regular and collector's edition (going to pick up my CE today). I don't plan to merge my accounts since I think it's a bit unrasonable for wasting the char. slots for my CE when I already have combine my regular editions already.

So, I got this funny idea when someone mention Glint. What if Anet reproduce the orginal GW CE w/ the mini-Glint to promote the old CE. I never was able to buy that version since it was unavailable in my location for awhile. I wouldn't mind buying the old CE and combine it to the new CE for fractions.

Just a random thought. Would like to hear what you all think about it.

i just picked up my CE... here's how it went:

11:30 calls bestbuy online support, and finds out theres no update on my pre-order of factions

12:20 checks bestbuy.com and see that my local store just got the CE in.

12:30 takes lunch break, and heads to bestbuy to snag a copy.

12:40 chats with customer service to find out where the factions CE's are, *explains how i know they have them cause i say it online.

12:50 after waiting the lady comes out of the warehouse carying a box, and preceeds to stick pricetags on the games.

12:55 checks out

1:00 calls Bestbuy online support to check again on my pre-order. (still nothing new). I then proceed to inform them that the reason I pre-order a game is to insure that I will recieve my copy. They agree. I continue and let them know that I just bought a copy of Factions CE from one of their stores. And in fact they just recieved a shipment of them, and as far as I know this happened at every stor near my location. I then ask if they cant fill my pre-order, then how can they stock all their stores with the game. I then get a fairly decent apology, afterwich i cancled my pre-order and went on my way.

I dont understand why they do things this way. I pre-order CE from a store, I should get it before that random mofo who walks into the same store and picks it up off the shelf. At least a confirmation that they have them in stock, and mine on its way.

your missing my point and that is again ....ANET stating... they were doing this for CE people because of the support they giving for buying the more expensive CE edition well my question is what about those people that bought two regular editions that is more support if not the same support ....isnt it? where is our prize?

Miniature Jeff Strain > Miniature Cliff Racer.

Especially one that says "Hi, I'm Jeff Strain!" and waves every now and then. That'd be so leet.

@ tivaan stormbringer:
It's one thing to graciously accept a gift for something you've done. It's entirely different to demand or expect a gift for all of the other things that you've done. They've given us a gift, this doesn't give us the right to start demanding other gifts. Don't worry, be happy, n' all that.

thats not why they did this. as i understand it, they did it because of the mix up they had with getting the CE out on time. think of this as an apology

They are not rewarding the "support" of CE buyers. We all support GW, and many of us wanted the CE, but wanted to play more (increasing the release day sales, BTW, which should count for marketing more than "how many CEs sold.").

They are rewarding the support and patience of CE players waiting for their CE to arrive. There is a slight difference there.

I'm dealing with it. I've been playing Factions for a week (something I would not have been able to do had I waited for the CE). I don't have to deal with Best Buy, or EB games anymore.

And, if this offer still stands, and the CE is available on shelf in July, I may just buy it. It would be nice to get something extra (like more bonus slots or something), since I'll effectively replace my reg. key with a CE one.

People with 2 accounts are kinda screwed, esp. once they start selling slots. I would stop buying two versions, buy your extra slots, and use the saved money to upgrade to a CE (too late now, I know).

Maybe next time...

Hey if that is the reason then I support that cause ...waiting for something u want sucks ... but if it wasnt I just want ANET to understand I do support them to by buying multiple copies for myself and son. : )
And I do enjoy the game very much.

Ugh!! My story is similar to kaya's...

9:30am, get to work.

11:00am, run errands, stop by Gamestop, only to find, the "shipment" hasnt arrived yet. UGH!

(I was told 3 times with calls during this week that Gamestop was getting a shipment of Factions CE on MAY 5, FRIDAY!!)

12:30pm. Still at work. Call Gamestop to see if they have revieved the CE. Not yet. UGH!!!!!

1:30pm The current Pacific Coast time. I dont get off work till 6:30pm. Gamestop closes at 9pm. Think they will sell out before i get there? If so, so much for preorder. Think the shipment will even arrive !?!?!? GAWD!!!

(All this trouble after them calling ME to reassure ME that they WOULD get the CE on May 5. Guaranteeing me that the shipment was on route Thursday May 4. UGH UGH UGH!!!)

This may be a little early, but if a significant amount of people have to wait a month or more to get Factions (?!?), do you think Anet will offer some sort of deal where if you buy the reg edition, you get a discount off the CE?

Or, since that could be exploited, maybe another "gift" for those who merge accounts? (effectively losing $50 from the reg account).

I don't know. How many people still don't have their CE?

I'm not trying to rant at people, but be careful what you wish for. We have a great company that cares about the community here. They are doing innovative stuff and giving us nice suprises here and there.
1. It's not clear it's ArenaNet's fault. At the least, it is very likely NCSoft's fault (since the publisher is in charge of manufacturing and distribution).

2. It's mostly just a nice thing for people to have. ArenaNet feels very bad that some of their best fans are essentially being punished through no fault of their own, and are trying to make things up to them. It's a nice thing. Yes, some cynically say that they are "just" trying to make people feel better about the CE so people will buy them again ... but isn't that what we want? Don't we WANT a company to do nice things? Shouldn't the CE be cool? Of COURSE they want to maintain good relations with customers and fans. That's a great thing for a company to do, both for their bottom line and for just making everyone happy.

3. Yes, technically it "disrupts" the economy, in that people with a lot of money might spend them on minipets instead of something else. But whatever. Those people had a lot of money. The new items are worth whatever the market will bear, and likely have a stable value (after a few weeks, anyway). Personally, I don't think it matters. It doesn't have a real game effect, even if it makes money move around. Candy Canes are arguably a "worse" thing as far as affecting game play.

In short, ArenaNet did something nice for some of their customers. This is only a good thing for all of their customers in the long run, because it's just part of a series of nice things. It doesn't directly hurt anyone, and it's a stretch to say that it indirectly hurts anyone. Someone else getting a bonus isn't actually a penalty for you (especially as it has no in-game effect).

i got my CE finally, the dances are kinda cool, the art book is paperback, the first CE had a hard back book. This did come with a mouse pad. Overall I am happy since it will come with a mini dragon. I do wish the extra back up dances worked for existing characters Oh well. I will enjoy what I have and relish them

I'm definitely digging the art book. I've consider most of the money spent was for the art book, the mousepad, and the soundtrack CD. Come to think of it, feels like a real bargain .
